Laying the foundation

Chiropractic care is like building a house – certain things have to happen in a particular order in order for everything to stand strong and work correctly. When building a house, if you tried to put up your walls before you had a solid foundation, your walls would be weak and eventually collapse. If you tried to put on your roof before the walls were ready, you would run into the same problem. The same is true for your body. Your body has to go through a particular plan of care in order to repair itself correctly and fully. There are three general phases of chiropractic care . . .

Phase 1: Relief Care

Initial consultation is free to help us determine if we are going to accept your case. If you are in pain when you come into our office, the first objective is to help you feel better. Every patient's needs is unique to her or him and we treat you and your needs, not an arbitrary formula. We don't overtreat.  If we accept you as a case, we will explain recommendations and why we made them. It is typical to treat you 3-5 times and then evaluate what other amount of care - if any - is needed for relief.  Depending on the severity of your problem, additional treatment may be needed 2-3 times per week for 2-12 weeks.

Phase 2: Corrective/Restorative Care

During the corrective care phase, muscles and other tissues are allowed to heal more completely, thereby helping prevent injury and maintaining the gains in function and relief to minimize recurrence. Depending on the severity of your problem and its cause, corrective/resorative care may require more time, and/or may include, for example, additional exercise recommendations, arch supports for balance and alignment, or nutritional recommendations. If this is your health goal, depending on the severity of your problem, it is possible you could need care 4-8 times per month for 4-24 months, (this will depend on your overall health and the severity of the problem).

Phase 3: Wellness Care

It is important to come in for periodic adjustments to avoid problems in the future. Based on your lifestyle and goals, and depending on your health history, this usually only requires a quick visit to the chiropractor, every 1-4 times per month. The frequency will vary with every patient's underlying structural weaknesses or bone abnormailities (due to arthritic degeneration or genetics), age, and lifestyle. Wellness Care helps you stay flexible and enjoy life to the fullest!
